2024 Events

June is Invasive Species Awareness Month / DNR
Clean Boats, Clean Waters Program

DNR Drain Campaign at the boat landings  /  May 31 – June 2

DNR’s Free Fishing Weekend  / June 1-2!
The goal of the Drain Campaign is to increase public understanding of the draining laws in WI and emphasize the “drain all water” prevention step during watercraft inspections. CBCW inspectors share aquatic invasive species (AIS) prevention information with boat landing visitors and remind anglers to drain their livewells and bait buckets before leaving the launch.

Great Lakes Regional Landing Blitz  /  June 26 – July 6
The DNR Landing Blitz encourages extra AIS attention at all boat landings during the busy July 4th holiday weeks. This year, Wisconsin is aligning dates with the larger Great Lakes Regional Landing Blitz effort, alongside other Great Lakes states and provinces. All Wisconsin lakes and rivers can be locations for the Blitz.

Boat Parade / Saturday, July 6  4:00pm

The annual July boat parade starts at Luke’s at the north end of the lake. Boats will follow in a parade around the entire shoreline.  For more information contact Luke’s Sunny Saloon.

Healthy Lakes Conservation Projects Tour

FOR ONE WEEK ONLY, starts Saturday, August 17 until Sunday, August 24

This will be a self-guided tour around Blake Lake, from the water only

Take a tour the conservation projects members have been doing to improve water quality on our lake since 2016! Projects includes many shoreline restorations, rain gardens, and water diversion. There will be 6-15 properties on the tour. A map will be available August 17 at the Annual Meeting.

Starting on Saturday, August 17 and ending on Sunday, August 24 we are doing a “float by tour” of the Healthy Lakes conservation projects. Sites will identified by a sign on the shoreline near or in the project. The sign will read “HL” for Healthy Lakes. This tour format is “float by from the water” only. We will have signs up for one week so anyone on the lake can do a self-guided tour by boat anytime. Family and friends are welcome!

Our District has completed 22 projects since 2016!! We completed 6 projects in 2021 and 16 projects in 2018. We are starting a third DNR grant this year that includes 2 new rain gardens and 5 shoreline restorations.
